Different Types of Dry Herb Vapes

Dry herb vapes have two primary types, namely desktop and portable vapes.

Portable vaporizers are also sometimes referred to as vape pens, and they come in a compact size.

These vapes are lightweight devices in your purse or pocket or stash in the drawer in your house when you are not using it.

A portable vape can be taken anywhere you go, which makes it great to take quick small hits every now and then.

Since these devices can only contain a small quantity of the ground herb, portable vapes are recommended for solo users or can be shared with one person or two.

On the other hand, desktop vapes come in a bigger size with a plug-in source of power.

Many people use this kind of device exclusively at home because it is bulkier and needs more space for storage.

This device can hold more significant amounts of ground herb compared to a portable vape that makes it more suitable for longer and more laidback vape sessions lasting for several hours.

Desktop devices usually use more powerful and more advanced technology compared to what is used in portable vapes.

Bigger hits are possible that produce more amounts of vapour if you are using a desktop vaporizer, unlike what you can expect from their portable counterparts.

While you can always use a desktop vaporizer by yourself for your solo vape sessions, the bigger size and more powerful vaping capacity make portable devices more ideal for group vaping sessions.

How Do Dry Herb Vapes Work?

A dry herb vape produces vapour clouds through heating up cannabis flowers placed inside the chamber.

But, there are a couple of different methods being used to heat the dry herb in this kind of vaporizer – convection and conduction.

In conduction method, direct contact is used for heating up dry herb within the vape.

The heating chamber of a vaporizer using the conduction method, typically heats up,  with the open flame on the heating plate that combusts the dry cannabis flower for production of the vapour cloud.

Don’t worry, its not a big flame; everything takes place within the chamber/tank.

Meanwhile, vaporizers using convection heating use gas or liquid to promote heat movement.

Hot air gets circulated above the dry herb when taking a hit from the vaporizer. With this method, the dry herb doesn’t get combusted.

Convection vapes are generally considered more superior than conduction vapes.

Since direct heat is used in conduction vaporizers, some parts of cannabis flower inside the chamber might get overheated.

It can result in the production of unlikeable burnt taste and lower the vapour cloud’s quality.

Aside from that, its heating plate may also continue burning the dry herb between pulls that can lead to waste if the device is turned on, but you are not really vaping.

As for convection vaporizers, the temperature in the chamber stays more consistent.

There is no combustion of dry herb, so you don’t need to worry about burnt taste as you vape.

If you want to take some time between your pulls, this kind of vape is more preferred because there is no continuous burning of cannabis flower, unlike what happens in a convection vaporizer.

Most convection vapes come with temperature controls to let you customize the level of heat for various cannabis strains.

In general, conduction vaporizers are more affordable than convection vaporizers.

Using them is also easy, this makes conduction vapes, a well-liked option for beginners.

In case you wish to indulge in vapor that tastes better and vape slowly with no need to worry that your supply will get wasted and fiddle with temperature settings, it would be worth to pay more and invest instead in a conduction vape.

How to use and pack a dry herbs vaporizers ?

Now that you know more about the different types of dry herb vaporizers, it is time for you to get started with your vaping session.

Here are the steps you need to follow to begin the use of dry herb vape:

  1. Grind your herb.

In case you haven’t done it yet, make sure that you grind first the dry herb before starting your vaping session.

You would want an even and fine grind so your vaping experience will be better and more enjoyable.

  1. Fill up the chamber of the vape.

Remove the cover or cap on the chamber of your vape.

Load your ground cannabis carefully in the chamber with the use of your fingers, a miniature funnel, or a little scoop.

Make sure the chamber is not overfilled.

If you are using a conduction vape, it is possible to pack its chamber a bit more tightly.

However, if you are using a convection vape, you must create enough room where air can move across the chamber.

We recommend starting with a much looser pack if you are using convection vaporizer.

However, you can kinda pack to your heart’s content with a conduction vape.

  1. Heat up your vape.

Dry herb vape needs more time for heating up before using it than e-liquid vapes. It may take somewhere around ten up to 15 seconds to more than one minute +, based on the features and size of the device you are using.

If you are using a device with adjustable temperature, you will discover that the lower temperatures can give you smoother and more flavorful hits, whereas higher temperatures lead to thicker clouds with more potent effect.

Many vaping devices provide temperature settings ranging from 315 up to 440 degrees Fahrenheit.   From 157- 226 c, although some vapeorizers, such as the boundless cfx can heat up from as little as 35 degrees / 95 F.

4.  Take your first hit.

Once your device has already heated up well, it is now time for you to take your first hit.

Put your lips on top of the mouthpiece of the device then inhale at a slow and steady pace.

Most people suggest that you should take in small breaths of regular air once you finished your hit so that cloud of the vapour will be pushed into the lungs.

5. It’s time to exhale.

Now, you can release the vapour cloud with the use of the same slow and steady pace that you used when you took a hit.

Remember that you don’t have to keep the vapour inside your lungs within a long period of time, so that you can feel its effects.

After you inhale, you just need to wait for one to two seconds before you exhale.

6. Continue your vaping session.

You can continue taking hits from the vape until you reached the effects that you want.

Take note that if your device is a conduction type, your dry herb is going to continue burning even if you don’t actively inhale, that is why taking shorter breaks between hits is recommended.

7. Turn the heat off on the device.

See to it that you power off the vape after you are finished with your session.

Let the vaporizer cool down completely before you clean or store the device.

If this is your very first time to use your dry herb vape, you can begin with several small hits so you can experience how it feels before you continue.

Even if a lot of people discover that smoking has stronger effects compared to vaping, it would be wiser that you start slowly so that you can determine your own level of comfort when it comes to consumption.
